The Atlanta Braves

Do you know which team is thelongest continuing playing franchise in American professional sports? Do you think it is the New York Yankees or
maybe the Boston Red Socks? What about the Chicago Bears or the
New York Giants? Well, believe it or not, none of these teams are correct.
The correct answer is Georgia’s own Atlanta Braves! Georgia has only been the home of the Braves since 1966. However, the franchise that is now known as the Braves, has been in existence since 1869, only four years after the Civil War.
The Braves franchise began as the Cincinnati Red Stockings. After one
season in Cincinnati the Red Stockings moved to Boston and joined the
National Baseball League in 1871. The team changed its name several times during the next few decades. They were the: Red Caps, 1876-
1883; Beaneaters, 1883-1907; Doves 1907-1910, and Rustlers in 1911.....
